Is there something about the urban city environment that helps kill or weaken tornadoes?
Filed under More Green IdeasJul 28Is this why tornadoes are so rare in big cities? Is it something about all the big buildings and congestion? Almost everytime they show a tornado its always in the middle of no where in a corn field somewhere. What causes most big tornadoes to stay away from the city?

Before globalization, consumers, and business and government lived more among manufacturing. With globalization, manufacturing is out-of-sight, out-of-mind.

I am horrible at biology and my teacher has never helped anyone. He just skims over the material and hardly ever uses the textbook. I’ve been going over past regents and I still don’t feel that confident. Please help. Thank you.
Best reply by Kaylee:
I had to take the living biology regents exam a few years ago. I hate ny lol. Well basically just go to http://regentsprep.org/ then look through the lessons and take practice tests. Also type in google past living enviroment regents exams. They always ask the same questions. So as long as you can answer most of them you’ll be set

I work with developmentally disabled adults in a “school type” environment what activities are there to do?
Filed under More Green IdeasJul 28Hi, I work in a ” school type” environment in a room with 9 individuals who range from 24- 60 yrs old. My job on a day to day basis is too keep them active and socialized so what I want to know is there any activities out there that are age appropriate but easy for people to do? Please help…
Best reply by Neko:
Have you looked for icebreaker type games?
http://wilderdom.com/games/Icebreakers.html has a few good ones.
Most aren’t incredibly complex and they’re all about working together.
Animal sounds and Zoom sound like decent games, but it all depends on how alert the individuals you’re dealing with are. The good thing is, most icebreaker games are for adults in business type settings, so you’re not likely to run the risk of it being too childish.

I’m doing a presentation for my homework and I need to know how Buffalo have adapted to their environment. All i’ve got so far is their horns (which can be used as defence against other predators)
By the way, it’s African Buffalo
Best reply by gardengallivant:
First your animal is a horned bovine species in the artiodactyla so having horns is a common character with other bovine species along with the split hooves and being a ruminant. What makes this species different from other related artiodactyla? Do the horns branch? Are horns on both sexes? Are the horns spiraled?
http://216.19.70.191/Artiodactyla/Syncerus_cafferFull.html
Syncerus caffer- African Buffalo is related to the water buffalo, anoa, gaur, bison & yak species and more distantly related to cattle & antelope.
They are stocky in build and are grazing animals unlike many delicate antelope species. They are able to graze tough grasses in a broad range of habitats from riparian shoreline, & tree grown swamps, to forests or grasslands.
All mammals have 4 types of teeth but not all mammals fully express all possible teeth in the same way. The Bovine upper incisors are not grown out. They have a tough plate opposite their lower teeth to tear off grass against. Their teeth upper/lower Incisors 0/3, Canine 0/1, Premolar 3/3, Molar 3/3 x 2 for both sides of the jaw. 32 teeth totalGeneral bovine characters

how would you assess the environment during the pre-spanish period?
Best reply by Tinpanallycat:
The archaeological record shows that there was a major DROUGHT gripping the Southwestern part of what is not AmeriKa and extended all the way down to what is not the country of Belize.
At one time, it was thought the Anasazi and Hohokam and the Pueblo Indians nearly died out because of the 20 year long drought.. it is now known that drought lasted nearly 200 YEARS.. and.. the scary part is.. WE ARE HEADED THERE AGAIN.
When the Spanish showed up, the indigenous people were already stressed because of the sever water shortage.. and the Spaniards nearly pushed the whole population over the edg.

Would pooping in a bag be better for the environment than using the toilet?
Filed under More Green IdeasJul 28OK, I am really into the environment and I am always thinking of ways to clean it up. So how about this little gem of an idea: Stop using the toilet.
The toilet is an environmental disaster: All that water wasted and toilet paper not to mention all the poop and pee. The solution: Pee in the sink or outside, and poop in fast food bags you would just throw away anyway, and then put the bags in the trash.
I know this would work, but do you think the average American could handle it? Do you think we care enough?
Best reply by Jacob D:
No offense but that’s just plain silly
all waste water from your toilet gets treated by your local waste water plant
and if everyone did as you suggested, then things would be no better than it was in the middle ages, lots of disease comes from untreated waste and simply peeing outside is em brassing and indecent not to mention un treated and unprocessed poop can lead someone to be getting sickRead more replies
