Filed under Million Green IdeasMar 23Question by Blake: What should I major in in college if I want to get a job developing alternative energy technology?
I’d like to get a job helping to develop alternative energy sources like wave, tidal, and geothermal energy, but I’m not sure what the best college major would be for a field like that. Any suggestions?Best answer:

I’d ask a guidance or career counselor, but I imagine you’d have to major in some branch of science–possibly engineering. What do you think? Answer below!

Filed under Million Green IdeasMar 10Question by hontzstudios: Where would I look to find grants for switching to solar power for a non-profit private college?
I am looking to see if there is grant money available to help fund switching over to solar power for a small college. The college is religiously affiliated and not for profit. Are there programs out there? If so, where would I look to get started?Best answer:

What college major would be best for a future career in developing alternative energy sources?
Filed under Million Green IdeasMar 9Question by JumpMan XXIII: What college major would be best for a future career in developing alternative energy sources?
Which major would be best for a job in cleantech companies or any other alternative energy businesses. I would guess some sort of engineering but I don’t specifically know which type of engineering. Thanks.Best answer:

The best major would be Environmental Engineering, which deals with the environment, natural resources, consumerism, etc. Your second bet is Chemical Engineering, which has to do with detailed analysis of harmful chemicals, how to get rid of them, etc.Give your answer to this question below!

I want to discover/work with alternative energy sources. What is the best major to go for in college?
Filed under Million Green IdeasFeb 22Question by dedawheaty: I want to discover/work with alternative energy sources. What is the best major to go for in college?
Other colleges would be helpful…I was wondering if Chemical Engineering would be best, or Environmental Engineering. If there isnt a specific major, what can I combine to give me the best edge on producing alternative energy sources that are specifically geared towards environmentally sound policies. After that, I also want to open up my own consulting firm for companies who want to make their factories more environmentally friendly. I am just wondering what’s the best tract to go for.Best answer:

Hi, I am in a College Environment Group and they are looking for ideas to help improve the environment at college. We are trying to make the college more eco-friendly.
I was wondering if anyone has any ideas that could maybe help improve the environment at college. Why did you suggest these ideas? Also, what impact would it have on the environment and college?
We already have things like recycle bins, recyclable paper plates etc. We mainly have recyclable things in our college and there is nothing much apart from that.
Thanks for your help!

besides having alot of garbage bags for rubbish, have posters all over the college making ppl aware of the environment, hold seminar and lectures. you can also invite companies and business to hold lectures, have as competitions and prize giving. get volunteers to do a cleanup every two weeks or once a month. create a website. plant flowers and trees

How can you change your environment when your parents control that environment?
Filed under More Green IdeasJun 26I’m 16, and I’m not moving out for another year and a half (college).
I just read an article about new year’s resolutions and how if you want to change a habit or any other behavior, you must first change your environment.
So how can one change their environment if they have no control over it whatsoever?
Best reply by munmun:
try to change it through them, so let them be part of your changing……..otherwise you will make it harder, also try to get their complete trust and confidence in your deserving…..

am currently in college getting a degree in management because I had no idea what I wanted to do. Now, I want to help contribute, but I also want to achieve and use my management degree. I want to start a small business that will help change the world, even a tiny bit, but I am not quite sure how to achieve that. Does anyone have suggestions as to what kind of small business can help me achieve these goals? Your feedback is much appreciated. Thank you.
Best reply by Jerry Lee:
Hopefully, you have already studied forms of ownership.
(Sole proprietorship, LLC, corporation, . . .)Maybe you can offer shares, or options to people who can come up with good ideas.
