Question by Sam J: How much does it cost to make a solar power/energy station?

I am doing an assignment and I need to know how much does it cost to make a solar power/energy station because the internet doesn’t give me a lot of answers its all about homes not plants and stations.

So yeah if you can help me with my question thanks.

Biggest problem with your question is “how big?”

You might take a look at http://www.tesserasolar.com/ though, and if I were you, I’d write them an email, they look like a company that would help you./

Question by Min Sing: What is the democratic and Obama version of alternative energy? When will it be available at what cost?

Can all people of America change their cars and energy usage to alternative one?

We have >150 millions cars in USA. Can car owners abandon theirs for newer versions in 5-10 years time if alternatives available.

    Let me quote Obama himself:

“There are things you can do individually, though, to save energy,” Obama said. “Making sure your tires are properly inflated – simple thing. But we could save all the oil that they’re talking about getting off drilling – if everybody was just inflating their tires? And getting regular tune-ups? You’d actually save just as much!”

Question by fourtwenty: I want to power my new home I am building on solar power alone what will the cost be roughly?

I also want to stay off the electric grid . It would cost an additional ten thousand dollars to be hooked into it and I want to be independant from utilities. Would solar panels and batteries power lights and T.V , computer , washer dryer ect.

    Best answer:

    Answer by more slack
TV, lights and small appliances, yes. Washer, maybe. Dryer, not likely unless it’s gas – consider a clothesline. Electric range or oven, no. Hot tub, no unless it’s converted to a gas heater.

The raw panels are about $ 3-8 per watt. So for 6Kw figure about $ 18k for the panels. The charger/inverter and batteries, figure $ 2-3k more. Figure about $ 30k including the installation.

You might also consider a generator. The off-grid houses I’ve seen tend to have them, even if they have batteries too. Add $ 3k for that.

Do you have a creek? Consider small-scale hydro too.

Question by Randy: How much will it cost to install a solar energy power to run a few appliances such as lights,tv,e-fans?

Also where I can inquire here in the Philippines (NCR) about the installation of Solar Power Energy?

    Best answer:

    Answer by Blacksheep
I’m not so sure about the cost, but from what I’ve read on it, it costs too much for it to be worth it. so unless you are out in the middle of nowhere without power, I personally wouldn’t recommend it.
If you were thinking of powering small appliances, you might be better off just buying more efficient appliances especially if you already had to buy more efficient appliances in order for solar power to get enough energy to run them.

Here is an article on it

First, to be precise, nobody actually knows for sure. We do not even know exactly when life, as distinct from non-living chemical activity, began. Prior to life on earth, the elemental chemical composition of the earth was constant, same as now, but the molecular chemical composition was different. There was likely no free oxygen, the predominant gaseous materials likely being water vapor, methane, and ammonia. Once the average earth surface temperature dropped below the boiling point of water, life as we know it became possible. It is believed that various solar energy and atmospheric effects caused complex chemicals to form in puddles at the boundary between land and sea, and that, over time, these puddles became the first primitive living cells. Initial metabolism would have to have been based on methane, ammonia, water, and carbonates from rocks. Eventually, early bacteria-like creatures changed the atmosphere into something more similar to the present one, and this enabled the development of sugar formation (CO2 plus H2O plus energy) with oxygen as a byproduct, and the metabolism of sugar (CH2OHx plus O2 yields energy) with oxygen to obtain energy and get back the CO2 and H2O. There is evidence that this process was well under way 2 billion years ago.

I came accross a new, proven and tested home made wind power system and solar power system which eliminates our electricity bills. It was written by a Renewable energy enthusiasts Michael Harvey the diy called Earth4energy. You can get your copy to save energy and help environment while eliminating your power bills. Question by menina: How much would it cost to convert to biofuel?

Is it possible to convert a 04 Kia Sorento, designed to run on standard gasoline, to operate with biofuels? How much would this cost?

    Best answer:

    Answer by Nick
It would frankly cost a lot. Biofuels are mostly all biodiesels so you would need a diesel engine in your kia.

Secondly, I wouldn’t do it period seeing how biofuels are actually worse for the environment than fossil fuels. It takes about 1.3+ gallons of gas to make 1 gallon of biofuel and then biofuel has less efficiency than gas so you’re really losing in the energy department.

Question by Ara: Can solar power really be cost effective in the near future?

In the next year or two, Will consumers choose to power their homes with solar energy based on saving money alone?

    Best answer:

    Answer by Raymond Ricky
no way. solar energy is way too unreliable considering that 8 hours of the day is in darkness and the energy has to be stored in battery banks. solar and wind can be used in conjunction with utilities nicely though. the power company winds up buying the energy your solar panels or wind turbine produce and passes the savings of what it used onto you, cutting your bill tremendously.

Question by Jimmy: How does Solar Panels works and what is the cost of getting a solar panel installed.?

I have heard a lot about solar panels and I want to know how these solar panels works and is it really possible to generate electricity using solar panels. And what is the cost of getting a solar panel installed?

    Best answer:

    Answer by tlrakin
Solar cells (panels) collect direct sunlight, converts sunlight into low-voltage DC. The DC could be used directly by DC compliant appliances or passed through a power inverter that converts it to AC for use by AC compliant devices. Often the DC from Sun is stored in batteries for use when Sun is down (nights or cloudy days) . A charge controller is installed between the Solar panels and the batteries to ensure he batteries are not overcharged.

Question by Will: How much will a solar panel system cost to run a whole house?

I am wondering about the average cost to put solar panels on the average size home. (I know it takes a 3 to 4kw system, I think)
Would this power the home all the time?
Will there be power left over to sell back to the power company?
Just trying to get a clear understanding of solar panels from people that run their homes with solar?

    Best answer:

    Answer by Cecil
That depends on how much power you use.
