FRANCE 24 Environment – The color of your clothes: Dipping into dyes and showing your clothes true colours
Filed under Million Green IdeasMar 28

ENVIRONMENT – The color of your clothes: This week were dipping into dyes and showing you your clothes true colours. We bring you to cowboy city in China where Pearl River has turned a worrying shade of deep blue: a run off from the jeans factories along its banks. Before crossing to India where you’ll see that cotton fields are poisoning farmers who are forced to pick an uncertain future. Finally well be looking at whether or not you should take the clothes of your back, travelling miles, soaking up water and other energy resources…what we wear, really can have an environmental impact.

Wind power is one of the fastest growing forms of alternative energy in the world. More and more, wind power mills are seen in the countryside, in large wind farms and for the most part, away from city life. But a new form of wind power is now designed to work in an urban environment. VOA producer Zulima Palacio has the story. Mill Arcega narrates.

Is Al Gore more important than other people? Why does he get to pollute the environment more than others?
Filed under Million Green IdeasMar 11Question by Norm DeGuere: Is Al Gore more important than other people? Why does he get to pollute the environment more than others?
Al Gore gets to fly in a private jet and gets carted around in big cars. He pollutes more than 100 “regular” people. Is this a case of Liberal Elitism (Rosie O’Donnell is against gun ownership for ‘regular’ people, but her body guards are allowed to carry because she is important) or is this a case of the Al Gore ‘Destroying the World in order to Save it’?Opinions?
Best answer:
Answer by Abdul Hassan
Yes, Al Gore shouldn’t be flying around. No, it’s not a case of ‘liberal elitism’, it’s a case of Al Gore Being Rich and Famous. It definitely doesn’t mean that because he takes a private jet, we should ignore all his warnings.Add your own answer in the comments!

Environment: Biofuels
Filed under Million Green IdeasFeb 14
The OECD report on biofuels tells us that some of these processes are not as clean as was first thought. One country that does have the space to grow much more biofuel feed stock is Brazil – Brazilian sugar cane bioethanol is cleaner and cheaper than anything made in the North but is kept out of the US and Europe by tariffs.

Question by Jam Fair: why is biofuel bad and good for the environment?
Why is biofuel bad and good for the environment?Best answer:
Answer by B0uncingMoonman@aol.com
One thing bothers me about Biofuel – that you don`t see anyone mentioning. As a lifelong gardener, I know you have to `feed` the soil with compost over the years, to prevent the soil from degrading (it loses something with every crop grown in it).
So every time they grow crops for biofuel, that soil is degraded…and over the years the crops will become smaller and smaller.
In other words, growing crops for many years for biofuel use will eventually ruin the soil. There is no such thing as a free lunch as they say – there is always a price to pay.
So how come they are vaunting biofuels so much? It`s just robbing the planet`s soil of nutrients and sustainability.

Q&A: Why is Al Gore now trying to say the oil spill will impact our environment?
Filed under Million Green IdeasJan 28Question by Zaphod: Why is Al Gore now trying to say the oil spill will impact our environment?
When will these people stop spreading lies.
Rush says nature will take care of the oil spill on its own – who are you going to believe?
Rush doesn’t earn his living lying to the public like Al Gore does.Best answer:
Answer by Shamus
The oil will impact our environment. I don’t know what Rush said, I didn’t hear it, so I cannot comment on it, and most liberals tend to quote him incorrectly. But this will hurt our environment. The blame is square on the posers head in the white house.Know better? Leave your own answer in the comments!
