Question by brian 2010: Did Al Gore upstage President Bush at the White House after winning the Nobel Peace Prize last December?

I was watching the news report last December when Nobel Prize winner Al Gore upstaging the President over his incompetent environmental record. Bush was hot under the collar because of this. Hilarious as this sounded, I have to admit I enjoyed every moment of it. I want your thoughts on this rather embarassing moment of Bush’s.

First of all, who Cares About Al Gore, he wasn’t worried about Global Warming when he was Vice President. He just needed to get back into the spotlight. How can he upstage President Bush, he is the President, something that Al Gore wasn’t. Global Warming is such a Bunch of Sh*t. There are just as many scientists who disagree with it. Bush is the Man!!!!!!! Vote Republican in 08!!!!

Big Al can live as un-green as he wants….but OTHER people had better make changes in THEIR lives. That’s how con men have always been. Religious con men are the same. “Worldly” things have no place in a good christians life…but look at how the con men (and women) live. It’s the same for these GW hot air purveyors. And Big Al is no different.

Question by Rebecca: How to build a solar house for my science project?

We can use a cardboard box, plastic wrap, aluminum foil, etc. Ways to collect as many solar rays as possible. Nothing too fancy or expensive, either! Goal: highest single temperature and highest average temperature. It’s going to be like a competition between the whole class. Please help!

    Best answer:

    Answer by Plainer
Find materials that *collect* light instead of reflect it. That means use black colored items. The aluminum foil could come in handy to somehow try to reflect the rays onto the house…

In this video we show how to make a dye sensitized solar cell based on titanium dioxide and anthocyanin found in raspberries. First get some titanium dioxide (anatase structure), about 0.5g will do. Then mix it with drops of vinegar until it has the consistency of thin paint or liquid…

Question by Mankan: Is it possible to create biofuel without the environmental cost of carbon emission and green house gas?

    Best answer:

    Answer by CT
Biofuel is still a hydrocarbon fuel… it releases emissions when burned for energy. But the idea is that carbon released by biofuels is “new carbon”… carbon that was “recently” removed from the atmosphere by photosynthesis.

This is in comparison to fossil fuels, which are the product of ancient accumulated plant material. When you burn a fossil fuel, you release carbon into the atmosphere that was naturally being stored and thus having no effect on climate.

It isn’t a perfect solution, but it is a cleaner alternative. One of the “extra” problems with biofuels is that you need space, viable land, water, and energy to grow it. These are resources that could be used for actual food production.
