This historic video presents a comprehensive and science-based overview of Climate Change and the potential effect on human health and the environment, based on scientific research, evidence and thought that existed in 2001. It is a valuable look at the issue of Climate Change from the turn of the century. Internationally-respected experts from around the world described problems that might be expected to result from the increasing global surface-temperature trend consistently documented by geophysical and climate scientists. Possible alteration in: 1)infectious disease from changing vector distribution; food production; water quality; heat stress; massive population displacement from catastrophic weather events; and other factors related to climate change on human health and environment are explored through interviews with experts, digitized slides and other graphics. The urgent need for more timely research and surveillance through better coordinated climate and public health science to document these effects is made. The case is argued for what can be done now to protect public health and environment from anticipated effects from climate change. This timely (as of 2001) introductory video is suitable for public health students and practitioners as well as an informed public in outlining this public health issue. The video can be purchased from the Society for Occupational and Environmental Health (SOEH) from their website at www.soeh.org . SOEH plays a unique …
Despite signing the Kyoto protocol, Australia – along with the US, Canada and Japan – is resisting pressure to agree to deep cuts to greenhouse gas emissions. That’s unwelcome news for parts of the globe where the effects of climate change are already being felt. Marga Ortigas went to Sultan Kudarat in the southern Philippines, where she found farmers struggling to deal with unpredictable weather.

Question by pdffile: What are the environmental impacts of flooding?
I’m trying to research the environmental impact of flooding. I keep on finding websites that ramble on into the socio-economic impacts. Please can anyone give the detail case studies of the environmental impacts of flooding. There’s no need for social or economic impacts, I’ve already got them.Best answer:
Answer by MargaritaSault
They kind of go hand-in-hand. The annual flooding of the Nile distributes fertile silt (read “full of fish poo” on the land, which is generally good for the land, but it’s also a tremendous benefit to the agriculture in the region. It was flooding that created the Grand Canyon.

Some things that might get you started:426,000 cell phones are thrown out every year in the US.
Chemicals from Batteries (laptop, cellphone, etc.) cause damage to just about everything
letter size paper from printers/photocopiers…an amazing amount gets simply wasted from people not knowing how to make a proper copy
good luck on your paper!

What Are Some Positive Impacts For The Environment When It Comes To Mining?
Filed under More Green IdeasJul 5What are some positive impacts to the environment when it comes to mining??
Best reply by Clurgers:
It’s kind of hard to identify positives here although the rehabilitation of the land is in some cases positive. Many of the original plants are replaced following mining along with the replenishment of the original nutrient rich soil if it wasn’t mined as a mineral. In some cases a toxic plant may be eliminated in clearing land although not much else is positive. If strong rehabilitation processes take place there will definitely be some positives.

We’ve been learning in science lately how human waste and carelessness impacts the environment. It makes me feel so guilty. What are some practical, everyday things I can do?
Best reply by ranger_co_1_75:
The black pill will remove almost all of your imprint, but that is really drastic.
Just don’t knowingly throw away things that can be recycled, don’t encourage the destruction of critical habitat, or support polluting countries like China and India by purchasing Chinese or Indian made products until Chinese and Indian Factories clean up their pollution.
