I’m looking for ways to save some money on my electrical and gas bill at home. I’ve heard that solar power is a great way to do that, but it looks pretty expensive to have it installed. I’m thinking that I may have to spend some time installing it myself. Where can I find Solar Power Information to install my own solar power equipment?

I would love to use some solar energy in my home. What can you tell me about how much it costs to begin? Is there some sort of federal tax credit? What all do I need to buy (panels, batteries, etc)? Can a homeowner do the installation or must it be done by a professional? Would also appreciate any websites for retailers of solar energy items. Thank you very much for any information.

First, I reported the scumbag who gave the only reply so far, and I hope you did, too.

I’d also like to use solar energy, and I can only add what little I’ve learned so far. I’ve read several articles which suggest that a homeowner *can* do a lot of installations of solar equipment, but I’m afraid I can’t give you any details. One website I’ve seen for years, now, is www.mrsolar.com . At that site, they give both information and retail links (if not direct sales).

And yes, I have seen mentions of Federal tax credits for the use of some of these products — though again I can’t give you any details.

I just did a search for some more web retailers that carry solar equipment. Here goes…

no need for oil
no gulf of mexico oil spills
no 22 year old soldiers dying in the middle east to keep the oil pipeline going
no need to buy oil filters 4 times a year
no need for motor oil
no oil changes
They go 90 m.p.h. and get 100 miles or more on a charge
They may be a little more expensive, but in the short run, you save $$$ and the environment

I have seen quite a number of people asking questions about what they can do about the environment, making statements, etc.

At this time, I’d like to ask a different question: How do you educate yourself on the issues regarding the environment? Do you read websites? Do you read magazines devoted to the subject? Are you getting your notes from an organization you have joined?

Also, do you read from industrial or scientific journals about this topic? I’d find it interesting to see where people get their information, becuase, as they say, knowledge is power.
For those wondering, I am interested in seeing what others do to get their info; the the above details, I was throwing out a few possibilities of what I suppose others do.

I try to stay current with the news a lot…. I have friends with Greenpeace, and the peace movement, because Man’s aggression has reach a new High in International affairs, which will certainly leave marks on the environment of many Nations, as well as polluting industries making all our lives miserable
