Question by mairzydoatz: What kind of relationship – Hillary and Al Gore..?


Yesterday’s newspaper hinted that now that Al Gore has won the Nobel Prize he just might decide to run for the Presidency. Now if that happens, what kind of a relationship will he have with Hillary? Hillary seems to be running way ahead of the others – but Al might threaten that lead she has. What kind of a relationship did they have when both were in the White House years ago ??? Any ideas?

Could the circumstances that have forced Gore to keep a low profile are almost certainly related to the climategate scandal? Climategate is now the most viral topic on the internet.

Those emails were far more than dedicated scientists “agonizing over their inability to explain the truth.” They showed scientists with an entrenched agenda conspiring to keep data and information out of the hands of the public by destroying email, and opposing Freedom of Information requests. They illustrated a politicized scientific community discussing how best to deny their opposition a voice in Scientific Journals, and offering tips on disguising statistical data which might tend to refute their conclusions. These actions are far removed from the image of the objective, dispassionate scientist seeking only the truths revealed by data, whatever that truth might be. The actions, attitudes and opinions revealed in those emails are about as far from scientific purity as you can get. And no amount of whining or spinning from the Global Warming community is going to change that.

Question by D. Christopher: What kind of solar power setup would I need to power a single room’s energy needs?


I live in the basement of a house and would like to run my room on solar power. I have two power strips that run a TV and DVD player, a laptop, printer and two external hard drives and I would need to use a couple floor lamps in the room as well. What kind of solar paneling setup would I need and what would be the ballpark cost on this?

Let me just say, the cost would be too much to be worthwhile. It appears you would need at least 750 watts. if you wanted to use the electrical things at night too, the system would have to deliver that much power for the equipment, and more to charge the batteries. Make it a total of 1500 watts, and you would need between 10 and 15 panels, plus an inverter, mounting rails for the panels, two fused disconnect switches and wire. I expect around $ 10,000 or more.

I need a program where i can create hills, houses, roads in 3D. Kind of like the Sims game. It dosnt need to be anything sophisticated. My plan is to create an environment, build a water system on top of a hill and show how it is distributed to a nearby village.

Do you guys know of any program that can help me create something like this??

I’ve used Bryce 5.5 a while ago, it’s probably the best free and easy to use application for creating realistic landscapes.

More simple looking but with more features
(for building the water distibutionsystem) you should try Google Sketchup.
It’s free and it has almost no learning curve so you can build what you want right away.

Prebuild models are shared for free in the 3d-warehouse, there are thousands of models from almost anything thinkable (piping, dams, watertowers, terrain, houses, roads etc.).

Export function for Google Earth, place your models or complete system in a real existing environment.

Sketchup is also capable of making basic animations.
