Question by yandee: What are the effects of Biofuel on Pollution and Emissions?
I’m currently conducting a research regarding Biofuels. My objective is to identify pollution factors that biofuel reduces and how significant its contribution is in minimizing air pollution. Can you help me look for good and RELIABLE sites/journals/articles that speak of such?Best answer:
Answer by Yoho
Don’t forget the main problems with “biofuels” is where they come from. Compare the cost of corn that is sky rocketing making people starve in other countries. Compare the really bad emission that are made making hydrogen. Compare the fact that a solar cell takes more energy to make than it puts out in it’s life time.
Good luck on RELIABLE sites as no one is going to help you tell the trust you’re going to have to calculate the numbers your self. Most hippies would like you to believe that this “free tacobell grease” was going to go to a land fill. You have to remember this oil/grease has been used for years, just not running a cars.
They would burn it as fuel.. Now that they are remove there energy source they will need another one. All they are doing is exchanging one energy source for another. Same goes for solar cells. They use tons of energy via oil/coal making a cell then tell you it’s good for us
rofl and 99% of people belive it.A solar cell is a battery nothing more. But it sounds like you have already decided that biofuels are good for us

How big of on impact would switching from fossil fuels to hemp ethanol have on the environment?
Filed under More Green IdeasAug 10Couldn’t this single switch reduce the impact people put on the environment astronomically? Also to start using hemp for paper rather than all the pollution and deforestation from using timber?
Best reply by Frank:
Where do you think hemp grows? The use of ethanol that is made from corn has already been a problem. People are cutting down trees to grow corn, and the price of corn has spiked, making this dietary staple too expensive for many people in poorer countries to afford.
If we convert more corn farms (or wheat farms, or whatever) to hemp farms, people will go hungry.

I would like to do my part in reducing air pollution and helping the environment.
What can I do?
Best reply by ioerr:
The best thing most people can for the enviornment, would be to kill themselves.
That being generally not an option that’s “on the table,” you should probably get the highest mpg car you can afford, and drive it as little as possible.

Did I destroy the environment by sending my dead computer monitor and microwave to the dump?
Filed under More Green IdeasJul 4I intended to take them to the recycling center so I wouldn’t add to e-pollution, but I never got them there, and then we had a community clean-up day so I could get rid of them for free. Did I just ruin the environment?
Best reply by Crazy Minds:
ick ick ick. there’s so much… garbage in computers that totally destroy the earth. Next time, send it to recycling, even if you have a wait a bit.
